"Cold plunge kit" means three different things on three different sites. At one store it is a $569 inflatable tub with a chiller in the same box. At another it is a tub and a chiller you add to the cart separately. At a third it is a $9,999 hard-shell unit with filters and a cover. I went back through the pages I had already opened for my other cold plunge guides and wrote down, for each one, what the listing says is in the box, what it says is not, and what it does not mention at all.

I haven't unpacked or set up any of these, so everything below is "the listing shows" or "the maker says". Prices are snapshots from pages I read between 2026-10-06 and 2026-10-12, and they move.

What a complete cold plunge kit has to include

A tub that holds cold water is not a kit. For a plunge you can use every week, five parts have to exist somewhere in the order:

  1. A tub with a lid or cover.
  2. A way to chill the water, which is either ice you buy repeatedly or a chiller.
  3. A pump and hoses that move water through the chiller, if you chose one.
  4. Some way to keep the water clean, a filter or a sanitizer.
  5. A power outlet that suits the chiller, which is on you, not the box.

The listings differ most on parts 3 and 4, and part 5 is never in the box. My cold plunge at home checklist covers the outlet, the floor and the drain.

Cold plunge kits compared: what each listing says is included

"Not shown" means the page I read did not list it. It does not mean the item is missing from the box.

The Redwood Outdoors Denali is sold as an "All-In-One Cold Plunge Kit". I have it at $7,999 with a 120V, 12A maximum, and I did not record an included-parts list for it, so it is not in the table.

My arithmetic on the spread: the Aurelius is about 17.6 times the price of the Pod set ($9,999 divided by $569). A big price gap does not mean a big gap in what a listing says is in the box. The cheap sets list more small parts than most of the expensive ones.

The cheapest complete kit I could verify

The Plunge Chill Pod set is $569, marked down from $1,199, and it is the only listing I read that names the small parts: six legs, a drain hose, valves, a hand pump, a cushion and a carry bag. The chiller's own page lists a submersible pump, two insulated hoses, a power cable, waterproof tape and a manual. So the water-moving parts are in the order.

What it does not list is a filter or sanitizer for the Pod. The chiller page recommends tubs of 120 gallons or less for best performance, and the Pod's 92 gallons sits under that figure. The Max set at 148 gallons does not. My Plunge Chill review has the shipping, return and warranty wording, including the places where the pages disagree with each other.

If you need room for two people, the Max set is the same chiller with a bigger tub, and you should ask the seller what size chiller they would pair with 148 gallons.

Buying a tub and a chiller separately

This route gives you more choice and more homework. SaunaBox sells the PlungeBox XL tub at $249 with no chiller included, and the 1/2 HP Pro chiller at $1,799, which comes to $2,048 by my arithmetic. The XL page lists the same chiller at $1,998, so I would check the cart total before counting on the lower figure. My SaunaBox review has the other conflicts I found on that store.

Plunge Chill also sells its 1/3 HP chiller alone at $499, which pairs with any tub whose ports fit the adapter on the listing (a 1/2 inch male thread). Whether your tub has those ports is something to confirm before you pay.

My portable cold plunge page lists tubs that are made to take a chiller, and do you need a chiller has the break-even math against buying ice.

Kits with a hard shell, filters and a cover

At the top of the table the box changes. The Renu Aurelius lists an insulated cover with child safety locks and three filters, a 0.5 HP chiller built into the unit, 120V on a 15A outlet, and a 5-year limited warranty. The same page shows both "Add To Cart" and "Sold Out" and gives no return terms, only a link, so ask before you order. It also quotes a ship time of 6 to 8 weeks.

Coldture's bundle is the budget version of that idea: tub, chiller, circulation and filtration for $3,499, with a 1-year warranty on both pieces, and no horsepower, micron rating or ozone mention on the page. The Ice Barrel 500 bundle is $5,749.98 with the chiller, and its water treatment is described as a stabilizer accessory. My cold plunge with chiller roundup goes through the full-size units one by one.

The Sun Home Vertical is the inflatable middle option: a 1 HP chiller with app control and ozone, an insulated cover and a repair kit, at $3,899. The warranty reads "1+ Year", and I could not tell what the plus covers.

Parts the listings did not mention

These are questions for the seller, not claims about the boxes. I did not see any of the following in the included lists above:

Cleveland Clinic says to talk to your healthcare provider before a cold plunge, and it lists heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and pregnancy among the conditions where people should avoid it. It gives 50 to 59°F as a beginner range and says to avoid going below 40°F. Several chillers above list a floor in the 30s, which is a machine limit and not a target.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy a complete home cold plunge kit?

Directly from the makers I link above, or from the retailers that carry them. I only read maker pages for most of these, so I can't speak for third-party stores. Plunge Chill, Coldture, Sun Home and Renu all sell a tub and chiller as one order, and SaunaBox lists them as two items.

What is included in a cold plunge package?

It depends on the seller. Every set I read that includes a chiller lists the tub, and the Pod set also lists a lid, legs, a drain hose and a hand pump. A filter or sanitizer is listed on only some pages, so check that before you buy.

Is a cold plunge kit cheaper than buying the parts separately?

I could not show it either way for SaunaBox, since I have no bundled price for that pair, only $2,048 as two items. For Plunge Chill, the Pod set at $569 costs $70 more than the 1/3 HP chiller alone at $499 (my arithmetic), which would mean the tub, lid and accessories come to $70 if the chiller is the same unit. That looks low enough that I would confirm the chiller in the set matches the standalone one. Check the cart total on the day.

Do I need a chiller in my kit?

Not necessarily. Ice works for short use, and the cost of ice adds up over a season. I put the numbers in my do you need a chiller guide.

What I would do

For a first purchase where I wanted everything in one order and did not want to spend four figures, I would start at the Plunge Chill Pod set, ask whether a filter is part of it, and confirm the return fee wording before paying. If I wanted filters and a cover from day one, I would look at the Aurelius or the Coldture bundle and ask the seller the questions in the list above.
